NC Laws to Remember - State law requires drivers to turn on headlights whenever windshield wipers are used during inclement weather.
- Citywide speed limits are 35 mph unless otherwise posted. Out-of-town speed limits are 55 mph unless otherwise posted. The statewide speed limit is 55 mph unless otherwise posted on certain sections of interstate highways.
- The legal age for purchasing and consuming liquor, beer and wine in North Carolina is 21. Spirituous liquor and some fortified wines are sold in ABC stores, but beer and wine may be purchased in licensed retail, convenience and grocery stores. Alcoholic beverages may be served until 2 a.m. daily but may not be served until noon on Sundays.
- The North Carolina Safe Roads Act forbids a driver to consume an alcoholic beverage while driving or for the driver or any passenger to have an open container of an alcoholic beverage in the passenger area.
